Coriander Growing Advice
Sowing Indoors
- You can sow coriander throughout the year on a windowsill, for unseasonal crops of coriander. To produce garden-ready plants you can sow coriander into fine soil, in seed trays or pots during early Spring. Cover the seeds lightly with a growing medium. When the seedlings are large enough to handle you can separate into individual pots and grow on until you can move to their final growing position when the risk of frost has passed.
- It's a great idea to sow Coriander in late summer to provide you with crops under cover going into the autumn
Sowing Outdoors
- You can sow Coriander directly outdoors from spring to summer when the soil has warmed and the risk of frost has passed. Coriander seeds will enjoy being planted very shallowly and covered lightly with growing medium in a sunny or lightly shaded position.
- Sowing into pots is a great option as you can move the plants away from the heat of the midday sun and prevent premature bolting.
Ongoing care and harvest
- To enjoy regular harvests, sow coriander in batches every three or four weeks.
- Sow a batch of coriander in late summer to enjoy covered crop harvests going into the autumn.
