Dill

Dill is a herb garden classic flavour, which provides a gorgeous aniseed flavour within elegant foliage. It is lovely with chicken and fish, and is a great herb garden addition.

Dill Growing Advice

Sowing Indoors

• You can sow Dill indoors into module trays, sowing 1cm deep and covering lightly. Place the module tray in a bright location and keep them at least 15 degrees.  The seedlings can be potted into larger containers and harvested on the windowsill or plants can be hardened off and planted outside once the risk of frost has passed.

Sowing Outdoors

• You can sow Dill directly outdoors after the risk of frost has passed, sowing the seeds thinly 1cm deep and covering lightly with growing medium.  Thin the resulting seedlings as they grow to around 15cm spacing.  They will enjoy a bright and free-draining position.

Ongoing care and harvest

• To enjoy regular harvests, sow Dill in batches every three or four weeks.
• When sowing Dill outdoors be vigilant for drops in temperature and consider using fleece to protect young seedlings.
