Lovage

Lovage is a lovely herb with a beautiful flavour that is similar to celery and is perfect for adding to soups and stews.

Lovage Growing Advice

Sowing Indoors

• During early spring Lovage seeds can be sown indoors, sowing the seeds thinly into seed trays or pots and covering lightly with growing medium.  When seedlings are large enough to handle you can transplant them into individual pots and harden off before moving outdoors in late spring and summer.

Sowing Outdoors

• You can sow Lovage directly outdoors from late spring onwards, sowing into a shallow drill and covering lightly.  Lovage will enjoy a lightly shaded position.

Ongoing care and harvest

• Lovage is an enthusiastic grower and very low maintenance but cut back regularly to encourage fresh growth.
• Be wary of sowing too many seeds and Lovage is a very vigorous and large plant.
