Plain Cress

Plain Cress is similar to the curled variety of cress but contains a stronger peppery flavour within it's distinctive leaves. It is perfect for growing on a windowsill, greenhouse or being sown directly into the soil outside, and is a great first plant for children!

Sowing Indoors

• You can sow Cress all. year around indoors, sowing onto the surface of your growing medium.  You will need at least 1cm depth of planting material.  Keep the growing medium moist and sow the seeds densely.  Cover the container with a see-through material.  Place in a bright location and keep watered.
  

Sowing Outdoors

• Cress can be sown outdoors between spring and autumn as a cut-and-come-again salad crop.  Sow seeds into a drill 1-2cm deep and lightly cover.  The cress will grow happily in a sunny or lightly shaded location.  Sow less densely than indoor crops as your outdoor cress plants will become larger and more established.

Ongoing care and harvest

• Harvest the indoor sown cress as soon as they are fully developed with a pair of open green leaves.
• Keep outdoor sown cress watered during warm weather.
